Shipping fees often vary quite a lot between retailers.
Some retailers opt for simplicity by offering free shipping for all products or a fixed amount (for example $5.99). In these cases, it’s straightforward for PriceMe to display the exact shipping fee next to the price. Other retailers, however, employ more complex calculation methods where the shipping is based on weight or location or some combination of the two. In these cases, it’s more difficult to estimate and display shipping. We, therefore, decided to at least display the indicative shipping fee where possible instead of just omitting shipping, since consumers quickly are able to determine which shipping fee that applies.
Mouse over on the shipping trucks with a blue information ‘i’, and you’ll see the indicative shipping for the product.

Tip # 8 Can You Offer Bundles, Packages or Gift Sets?
It’s time to start putting in place some strategies to ramp up your Christmas sales campaigns. We’ve put together a calendar with a list of useful tips to help you make more online sales this Summer and Christmas season. Here are six tips for October.
Tip # 1 FAQ’s
Does your website have a list of FAQ’s to help answer your customers questions? This can help you save human resources answering phones and handling enquiries, which can allow you to focus more on sales and customer service.
Tip # 2 Your Monthly Budgets on Comparison Shopping Sites
Check your merchant accounts to ensure your monthly budget doesn’t run out for paid search and comparison shopping sites. This can lead to your online store losing valuable prospective customers at the busiest time of the year.
Tip # 3 Promote Your Summer Merchandise
Spring is here and Summer is just around the corner, and NOW is a great time to begin promoting products that will be popular with the arrival of the warmer weather. If you sell BBQ’s, lawnmowers, camping or hiking gear, fishing and watersports, outdoor games, fitness equipment and outdoor furniture etc – work out some compelling promotion to entice customers into your store or website.
We recently released a new version of PriceMe.
Here are some highlights of the new release:
- Users can select more than one attribute value to filter on. For example, both Sony and LG products can be viewed when browsing LCD TVs.
- Improved compare page including price graph, more data and the ability to add products to the current comparison without leaving the page.
- Added images to the search suggestion. The suggestions now also expand across the entire width of the page.
The growth of online shopping by Kiwis has been a constant feature of the overall retail landscape for some years now, and it appears there are no signs of it slowing down. The recent survey of 725 shoppers that use comparison shopping site PriceMe provides some great news for retailers, indicating there’s still significant growth opportunities in the online and mobile commerce space, and that the majority of NZ consumers want to support local retailers.
There’s been an increase in the number of shoppers using comparison shopping websites to research products and prices prior to purchase. Just over 58% of survey respondents confirmed they used a comparison shopping site within the last week, and 89% of those shoppers who clicked through to purchase a product that best suited their budget or need, did so with a NZ retailer.
