Canon has consistently been one of the most popular brands on PriceMe over the years, and is beloved by Kiwis. 2012 has been a busy year for Canon so far and the launch of new digital camera models seems to accelerate. Here’s a summary of recent and planned product launches:
Canon has or will introduce six new Powershot cameras this year. The Canon Powershot G16 and the Canon Powershot S120 were launched by Canon in NZ last month. These two high-end Powershot cameras are both based on the DiG!C 6 Image Processor. The Canon PowerShot SX170 IS and the palm-sized PowerShot SX510 HS both extend the Powershot series.
The entry level Canon Powershot A2500 was launched at the beginning at the year, and now retails for as low as $70 and the A3500 IS at about $200. The Powershot S200 is scheduled for release in mid-September, and hopefully we’ll be able to list this product shortly.
The IXUS series remains popular and Canon boosted it with the new Canon IXUS 255 HS and the Canon IXUS 135 IS.
The Canon EOS 70D has just launched in New Zealand, and boosts the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system and wireless sharing of your photographic activities. More info regarding the EOS 70D is available on Canon’s NZ site. The advanced Canon EOS 700D model was introduced in April, but still lags behind some other models in popularity despite 5 frames-per-second shooting and some other sophisticated features.
